OUR SERVICES

APPOINTMENT

We’re a full-service veterinary hospital in Nokomis, FL.

Because of our veterinarian’s special skills, we focus solely on care for DOGS and CATS. This gives us the ability to concentrate on providing the best care for your best friends! Our pets age 7 to 11 times faster than we do, and they can’t tell you what’s changing or hurting. Because of this, we stress the importance of twice-yearly physical examinations. You wouldn’t think of waiting seven years to see your doctor, especially as you get older! Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. To care for your pets’ complete health care needs, we offer a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Wellness Care

We’re here for all stages of your pet’s life with customized care and the attention to detail they deserve. Early in your pet’s life, we’ll work with you to create a roadmap for their ongoing care. We’ll discuss vaccinations and diet and get them on a proper schedule for care for all stages of their life.

We customize the vaccinations your pet receives based on age, lifestyle, breed, travel, beliefs, and health. Some vaccines are needed every six months, some every three years, some never. If your pet doesn’t need it, we don’t give it. Each time you come to see us, we will evaluate the best strategy for health care and vaccines again to make sure it is still the best!

As your pet ages, we’ll provide continued care to manage any effects of aging or other health issues they may be dealing with.

When it comes to your pet’s care, we’re with you every step of the way.

Dental Care

If you are not actively involved in your pet’s oral care, it’s time to start! Why is this so important?

Recent studies have shown that 70% of adult cats and 80% of adult dogs show symptoms of oral disease. Symptoms like bad breath; plaque build-up; excessive drooling; sore or bleeding gums when eating or chewing; and decreased appetite are signs that your pet’s teeth may require veterinary attention sooner rather than later.

Our dental services include teeth cleaning, polishing, digital dental X-rays, tooth extractions, and minor oral surgery.

Our veterinary team will make sure that all precautions are taken during any oral procedure to ensure your pet’s safety.

We’ll also work with you on proper at-home dental care for your pet. You can prevent plaque build-up by brushing teeth daily and feeding them prescription dental food. Prevention works best when started early to maintain the clean teeth and making it a part of their daily routine at a young age.

Microchipping

According to PetFinder, over 10 million pets go missing every year, and one in three pets will go missing at some point in their life.

Microchipping your pet can greatly increase their odds of finding their way home if they ever become lost. A microchip is a tiny device that contains unique identifying information about a pet.

A microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice and contains a serial number that is registered on a national database. This number corresponds with the contact information of the pet’s owner so that missing pets can be returned to their rightful home as quickly as possible.

In addition to microchipping services, we also offer instant registration services for your family.

Diagnostics and Laboratory

Quick diagnostics lead to quick treatments.

Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations. This allows us to conduct tests such as:

    • Blood tests
    • Urine tests
    • Fecal tests
    • Parasite tests

We also offer the latest diagnostic technology in our clinic!

X-rays: Our on-site digital X-ray equipment provides high-quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Because they are digital, the images are available almost immediately and are able to be reviewed in our exam rooms or emailed to a specialist.

Ultrasound: We are excited to offer in-house ultrasound for advanced soft tissue imaging. This allows us to visualize certain organs very thoroughly, including the heart, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, bladder, spleen, and intestines. It can also be useful to detect and monitor pregnancy.

Electrocardiography: We provide ECG services on-site, as well as consultations with cardiology specialists. We recommend ECGs for at-risk patients and before anesthetic procedures. An ECG gives a readout of the electrical activity of your pet’s heart and gives the veterinarian information about your pet’s heart rate, heart rhythm, and potential heartbeat irregularities.

Behavioral Counseling

We believe in strengthening the human-animal bond, and that starts with building a strong relationship with your pets. We can help.

We can provide advice regarding the correction of behavioral problems, such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, aggression, and noise and storm phobias.

If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Dietary Counseling

Ensuring good nutrition is more than just watching numbers on the scale. The nutritional status of your pet is an important indicator of their health and welfare.

We offer Royal Canin and Hill’s Prescription Diet pet food because they offer consistent ingredients, superior research, and multiple benefits in each diet, and they are the only pet food whose products are exclusively made in their own, controlled facilities. We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance. Therapeutic and preventative nutrition is customized for individual health, disease, recovery, and care.

Be sure to reach out if you feel like your pet’s overall nutrition needs are not being met.

Pain Management

We are a pain free clinic! Your pets feel pain just like you do. Surgical and dental procedures are pre-evaluated for pain levels, and pain medication is administered before, during, and after procedures as required to minimize pain and discomfort. Pain care is not optional, and no procedure is performed without pain medication! We also use pain treatment to manage arthritis, painful disease, and injury.
